"I’ve been making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities
for over nineteen years. When I graduated from high school and started my
job, I had no idea that I was beginning a journey with people I would come
to love and respect.
I grew with the Mental Retardation system, entering as a Direct Care Worker.
It wasn’t long before I became a Direct Support Professional, and
eventually a Community Life Peer. Now, almost 20 years later, I have been
privileged to help develop many unique opportunities for people with disabilities.
I believe that I am so much more than a leader and role model. I am
family to those who have none. I am a friend and an opportunity developer.
I am a peer. I am needed.
I guess you can say I entered the field of Human Services looking for work,
and instead I found a life-long career."
